Harvest moon half ironman ... Check

Whew today was tough. The swim started right as some serious wind picked up and the white caps we were fighting were no joke. I heard they pulled close to forty folks into the boats and I'd be lying if I said the idea didn't cross my mind a few times. Popping the head up to get air and having a face full of water is  nerve-wracking. Needless to say, my swim was super slow. Overriding one's sense of self-preservation is exhausting.😄 "No really stay right here hopefully we don't drown ...

Once on the bike I settled in and made it just under my time goal with what felt like relatively fresh legs. The wind was a continuing factor especially going up 36 and with my deep dish wheels !

The run just cooked me. I was so glad it was all on gravel roads but not a spec of shade was to be found and temps crept close to 90 on us today. I walked every aid station per mile eating and drinking. But fell way off my goal pace... I alternated thinking between 'you put one foot in front of the other' and 'get up get on up' to try and block the 'why are you doing this?' Messages in my brain.

Jens should have said, shut up head.

It was hard to motivate this am when it's cold and dark ... But glad I rallied and went !

Good enough for fifth in my AG- who'd have thunk!
